Burlington was super fun this year. They were pretty sure it was a record crowd. My new machine, UFO 4.0, sucked though. Our main problem was that we got started on the new machine so late we had virtually no time to practice. We hadn't had a single successful throw before the Pitch and we got there...

I don't know about Hurlers being too civilized. My teammate Big Steve is always complaining about the rest of the teams in Burlington, he just does it quietly so they can't hear him and then acts super friendly to their faces. We practiced with a 10 pound bowling ball quite a bit. It works great because of the consistent weight, size, and shape, but we found if we tuned our machine with the bowling ball, the tuning was completely different when we used a pumpkin so we basically started from scratch. I think Hurling is in a bit of a lull for sure. It takes a good amount of money to build a full-sized machine and with the economy being slow it makes it a little tougher to get started. I don't think it will ever really die. On a side note, my favorite message board to visit has about 20 full time ...
