Slings and Arrows - the History of Catapults.

Postby Murray » Thu Feb 27, 2014 10:08 pm

A talk by an alleged expert (me) detailing the evolution of pre-gunpowder artillery in the western world from 399BC to 1779 with an epilogue into WWI.

The talk covers the types of systems employed in different periods and why, the impact of artillery on warfare and a few of the men who played a part in the world of artillery. Including Philip of Macedon and his son Alex something, Richard I and Saladin.

Talk starts at 5.30pm at Waikato Museum, Hamilton, New Zealand. Bribes accepted. Talk is followed by a catapult competition the next morning.
