I can't believe this hasn't been posted about yet, I thought it had. My apologies!
Forum member Robert is helping put on a Texas Chunk this year! I believe the dates are May 1-3, but I will ask him to post more information here for anyone interested. There is also a Facebook Page for the event for those with an account there:

Robert, anything you care to add?

It benefits the Lone Survivor Foundation and Engineering scholarships. This is a test of teams and machines ability to hit targets, not the strength of random pieces of fruit. Targets out to 3000 feet. Projectiles are 1,5, and 10 pound scaled up cement golf balls; 3.3",5.6" and 7.125" diameters. We have a narrow 5000 foot range for machines that qualify for over 3000 feet, to go for distance. There are not many rules, no explosives, or air cannons. There are standard safety procedures that need to be followed, and we will inspect machines just to make sure no one's getting hurt or worse. Main thing is to have fun, and hang out with other catapulters. Entertaining the "fans" is a given. Creating new fans, even better. If we actually make some money for the vets, and school kids, man that's beautiful! I really hope to see y'all out there. Come see what's up on our facebook pages if you get the chance, say hi.

I do not expect a hundred machines and 70 thousand people. If I could get 10 or 15 machines out here, I would be ecstatic. We'll see what the years to come look like, but for now, I just want to get it going.
